I Met Someone

So…I met someone. The whole thing is actually kind of a funny story. I went grocery shopping at a market near my new home to pick up the ingredients for an elaborate meal I was planning to have at my house party later that evening. I love gourmet food, and one of my hobbies is cooking by the illumination of my antique lighting fixtures, so I was sparing no expense with this meal. In this quaint market, I bought the most expensive cheeses I could find, along with delicious fresh salmon, shrimp, crab, arugula salad with basil and almond slivers, top-shelf wine, quinoa and grapes for my specialty salad, and rich dark chocolate mousse.

While I was in one aisle searching for the dark chocolate mousse ingredients, I noticed this guy standing not too far away from me pondering some of the other decadent desserts. I couldn’t decide what I wanted for the mousse, so I was standing there for quite a long time. I eventually noticed that he’d glance at me every so often. Once, out of the corner of my eye, I could see him move his mouth as if he was about to say something, but then stopped himself. I picked out some pure cacao, and when I moved to place it in my basket, it slipped out of my grasp.

This guy was by my side in an instant, picking it up and handing it to me while flashing the most handsome smile I think I’ve ever seen. He was about 6’5” and had dark curly brown hair and emerald green eyes.

“What are you making with this?” he asked. I started walking down the aisle to continue with my shopping as I answered, “Oh, just some dark chocolate homemade mousse.”

“That sounds delicious.”

“Uh huh.” I muttered, mentally slapping myself for losing anything close to a graceful reply. He seemed unfazed by it, though, and kept the conversation going in a non-awkward way. He ultimately accompanied me around the entire store until I had everything I needed for the big dinner.

To make a long story short, he asked me out at the checkout under some bright lights and I said yes!
